Intent
What are buying intent signals?
A buying intent signal is evidence that a person may act, not evidence that they share an interest. In public social posts, the evidence is the wording: an ask, a comparison, a failure, or a deadline. A like is not a signal.

Signals you can point at
Strong signals can be quoted. “What should we replace this with before renewal?” is a signal. “Love this category” is not. The quote is the point. If you cannot paste the sentence that shows intent, you do not have a signal yet.
- A request for recommendations
- A named tool they want to leave
- A cost they are explicit about
- A date attached to a decision
What people mistake for intent
Job titles, follower counts, and keyword volume describe an audience. They do not describe a decision. NedlyGo keeps relevance and intent separate so a popular topic cannot qualify on its own.
How NedlyGo uses the signal
Discovery only keeps a conversation when it matches your product and shows that kind of reason to act. You still read it. High-intent notices inside the product are a stricter subset for your own alerts, not a public badge you can buy.
Questions
- Are intent signals the same as intent data you can purchase?
- No. Purchased intent data is usually a vendor’s model of web visits or content consumption. Here, the signal is a public sentence you can read.
- Can a signal be wrong?
- Yes. People ask for recommendations and then do nothing. Treat the post as a reason to reply, not as a forecast.
